Welcome back Year 4
I hope you have had a lovely Christmas Break and are ready and raring to go for the new term. We have lots of exciting things planned.
Our new book is Kaspar, Prince of Cats. It’s a beautiful book about a cat that resides in the Savoy hotel and ends up on the fateful RMS Titanic. I won’t spoil the story but it is a beautiful and thought provoking text which is also the basis for our topic work this term. We are going to be exploring ‘The Titanic’ – looking at its place in history, exploring where it was headed and what caused such a catastrophe.
As before, you will continue to receive a piece of English or Maths homework weekly. This will be sent home on a Friday evening and is to be returned by Wednesday, the following week. This is in addition to your spellings and multiplication homework. I also ask that you read each night – it doesn’t have to be for a long time but daily reading really does build your literacy muscles. Remember, it should be pleasurable, so feel free to choose from books that you have at home as well as your school reading book.
PE will continue to be on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. You need to ensure you have your kit in school on these days.
Parents/carers - if you have any questions or queries about your child’s education, please do not hesitate to call into school. My door is always open.
I look forward to a productive and exciting term ahead.
