We have been learning about WW1 and what life was like in the trenches for the soldiers. Mrs Tugnutt kindly brought into our class a ‘death penny’ which the families of soldiers who were killed in the war received, we looked closely at the inscription together with the accompanying letter from King George V. We also looked at some war medals from WW1. As a class we read some war poems and learnt about why we wear poppies for Remembrance, which resulted in some art work on the theme of Remembrance.
In Y4/Y5 we have been using Andy Warhol’s pictures of Marilyn Monroe as a stimulus, then using the form of painting called pointillism to produce our own portraits.
