Year Four

Welcome to the Year 4 Class Page!

We are an incredible team of children, taught by Miss Padian, Miss White and Mrs Keeton

This half term, we will learn all about the USA, taking a deeper look into the various different states, climate zones and the famous landmarks that have been built there! The children have already started to create some wonderful pieces of work to make our classroom as immersive as it can possible be and as we our lessons continue using our Ark Curriculum, the children will have a deeper understanding to help them answer our 'Big Question' which is 'What is it like in the USA?'

Our new class book will be 'Stuart Little' By E.B.White. It tells the story of a mouse who is born into a human family but decides that he to explore the USA to find out where he came from. Along the way, he makes many new friends, both animal and human, getting himself into some very tricky situations! It is fun and action-packed book which I am sure the children will love!

We are very much looking forward to learning together this half term and we can't wait to see the wonderful work you will produce!

        IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER

PE - Is on Monday and Wednesday, please remember your PE kit and the appropriate clothes you need to wear for your kit. Our two brand new topics are Yoga and Rounders!

HOMEWORK - New spellings will be given out every Monday, ready for a spelling test on a Friday afternoon. For this term, Reading and English based homework will be given out on a Friday, to be returned by the following Wednesday.

UNIFORM - We have a beautiful uniform at St Mary's and we pride ourselves on our fantastic appearance. Please make sure you attend school in the correct uniform, always looking lovely and neat!

Reading!

It is so important to keep up the level of reading you do in school at home. When you have read at home and get your record signed by an adult you can collect stickers on our class chart! The more stickers you get, the more chance of some amazing prizes!

Times Tables!

Keep on putting practice into your Times Tables! It is so important you keep up with these at home. We will have a weekly check on them every Tuesday afternoon and we will be practising them before every lesson for this half term as well. In preparation for our Times Table Check in June, please try and use TT Rockstars as much as possible and their is also a very helpful website called 'Multiplication Check' which is brilliant at helping the children to get ready!  Our test takes place this term so it is important to keep practicing daily as much as you can!
